Nothing says romance like a “Toi et Moi” ring.
Created in the Edwardian era, circa 1900-1915, this double opal ring is a sight to behold. At center are two prong set cabochon opals in the classic "you and me" positioning. From there are period perfect Edwardian swirls done in platinum topped 14 karat yellow gold. Eight Old Mine Cut diamonds, four on each side, flank the center opals for a total of approximately 0.18 carats in diamond weight. Open in the back, the light shines through the stones making it a bright and beautiful ring.
A French saying, “Toi et Moi” means You and Me and in jewelry refers to a ring that showcases two stones symbolizing two people. These were common engagement rings during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, symbolizing two souls that are intertwined. The ring that is believed to have started the trend (and is similar to our example here) was a diamond and sapphire engagement ring given by Napoleon to Josephine in 1776.
